  3. Collecting partner sperm via traditional method or aspirated through a surgical procedure (TESA/PESA/MESA/TESE) or by collecting a  donor sperm.
  4. Fertilization: The retrieved eggs and collected/aspirated sperm are mixed together in a laboratory under the culture medium incubation and achieve fertilization.

What is ICSI treatment for pregnancy?

What is ICSI treatment for pregnancy?

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a specialized form of in In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) that is used primarily for the treatment of severe cases of male-factor infertility. It involves injecting single live sperm directly into a mature female’s eggs in a laboratory (outside the human body) that creates an embryo (fertilized egg).

How does ICSI treatment work?

The ICSI treatment work in the following: a tiny needle called a micropipette is used in injecting a single sperm into the center of the egg in the laboratory to achieve fertilization. With either traditional IVF or ICSI, once fertilization occurs, the fertilized egg known as the embryo grows in a laboratory for 1 to 5 days before it is transferred to the woman’s uterus (womb). After the embryo is fully developed, the best one is selected and implanted into the female uterus to conceive a pregnancy.

The most important indicator of ICSI success appears to be the fertilization rate achieved with the ICSI procedure. 90% live birth rate per embryo transfer, eight out of every 10 eggs will fertilize normally. ICSI is not a painful procedure. During the process of IVF/ICSI, the patient is anxious about the procedure being painful. However, there is no part of the procedure in which the patient may experience pain. For detailed information about the treatment kindly visit the link: IVF VS ICSI.

What is PGD treatment?

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is an IVF procedure that is designed to examine embryos for chromosomal abnormalities. PGD enables Doctors to select Embryos that are free from any genetic diseases to implant into the uterus. Every parent wishes to give birth to a healthy child capable of leading a life free of medical complications or diseases. But this is not entirely possible for some couples due to genetic link diseases. In such cases, PGD is the best option to receive a healthy child.

PGD testing is ideal for couples with a family history of genetic diseases(s) & who want to avoid passing on the same to their future child. In certain cases, either one or both parents might just be carrying the disease-causing genes. In that scenario, any of them might not be suffering from the disease itself.

PGD test for the following disease:

  • Translocations of genes or swapping of chromosomal materials or other kinds of structural alterations).
  • Genetic translocation (can lead to birth defects, miscarriage, or even mental retardation).
  • Marfan syndrome.
  • Huntington’s disease.
  • Recessive genetic diseases like Tay-Sachs and cystic fibrosis.
  • Genetic diseases, that are borne by the chromosome, like Duchenne muscular dystrophy and hemophilia.
  • Abnormalities in the number of chromosomes.

What is the TESA procedure?

Testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) is a procedure performed for men who have healthy sperm but they cannot ejaculate during sex due to various reasons like blockage, and low sperm count ejaculation and are having sperm retrieved for IVF/ICSI. TESA is performed along with local anesthesia in the operating room or office and is coordinated with the female partner’s egg retrieval.

During the procedure, a special needle is inserted into the testicle, and the tissue/sperm are aspirated with this needle. Sperm recovery by TESA procedure is successful 100%. During the TESA procedure, it can cause some discomfort for a few days, but it is not a painful treatment because it is done under local anesthesia or sedation. There will be some discomfort and swelling around the injection site, which may feel like a pinprick, but it will disappear in a few days.

Which is better Tesa or PESA?

Whether a man is suffering from obstructive or non-obstructive azoospermia, sperm can be retrieved using PESA or TESA depending on its severity. If there is sperm within the epididymis, then PESA will be used, and if not, then TESA will be the ideal sperm retrieval option.

The selection of the sperm aspirating procedure TESA/PESA/MESA/TESE, etc. depends on the male infertility conditions. The correct sperm aspirating treatment option is determined after the Semen analysis test process by the Doctor.

What is IUI treatment?

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a type of artificial insemination for treating male infertility (low sperm count, weak motility, poor morphology, etc.). It is a less-invasive fertility treatment and every couple must try it before proceeding with any other more invasive treatments. IUI proceeds by using the sperm that have been washed and concentrated and are placed directly into the female uterus around the time her ovary releases one or more eggs to be fertilized.

The idea behind IUI treatment is for the sperm to swim smoothly into the fallopian tube and fertilize a waiting egg, resulting in pregnancy. Depending on the reasons for infertility, IUI can be coordinated with your normal cycle or with fertility medications.

Who should use IUI treatments?

Intrauterine insemination is used most often by couples who have the following condition:

  • Donor sperm: For single women or couples who need to use donor sperm to get pregnant. Frozen donor sperm specimens are provided by the fertilityworld best clinic for IVF in India. It is thawed before the IUI procedure.
  • Unexplained infertility: IUI is often performed as the first treatment for unexplained infertility along with ovulation-inducing medications.
  • Endometriosis-related infertility
  • Mild male factor infertility (subfertility): Male with below-average sperm concentration, weak movement (motility) of sperm, or abnormalities in sperm size and shape (morphology).
  • Female with cervical factor infertility.
  • Ovulatory factor infertility: women having problems with ovulation, including an absence of ovulation or a reduced number of eggs.
  • Male with Semen allergy: IUI can be effective since many of the proteins in semen are removed before the sperm is inserted in IUI.

Choosing the best IVF centre in India is a crucial decision that can significantly impact your fertility journey. Below, we have listed some of the essential factors to consider when selecting an IVF centre:

Success Rates– Look for IVF centres with high success rates. It is advised to check the success rates for live births per embryo transfer, as well as success rates for specific procedures such as IVF with donor eggs or self-egg. At Fertilityworld, our success rate is 99%. However, remember that success rates can vary depending on factors such as patient age and infertility diagnosis.

Experience and Expertise: Choose an IVF centre with experienced and skilled fertility specialists, embryologists, and support staff. Look for doctors who specialize in reproductive endocrinology and infertility and have a track record of success in treating various infertility issues. Our doctors, including Dr Nidhi Sharma and Dr Pummi Murthy, have more than three decades of experience in IVF.

While cost is significant, prioritize quality and success rates over price alone. Compare the costs of treatment packages, additional services, and any discounts or insurance coverage available.

Location and Accessibility: Choose an IVF centre that is conveniently located and easily accessible from your home or workplace. Consider factors such as travel time, parking facilities, and the clinic’s proximity to accommodation options for out-of-town patients.

Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure that the IVF centre adheres to strict quality and safety standards set by regulatory authorities such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). Accreditation from reputable organizations demonstrates the clinic’s commitment to excellence and patient care.
